Hello and happy Sunday!
A few weeks ago, I wrote about my new seasonally inspired obsession with suede and I purchased the Coach Brooklyn Bag 28 with hopes that it would be the bag for me. Unfortunately, it fell short of expectations and I subsequently returned it for the reasons listed here.
Since I still had a suede sized “gap” in my wardrobe, I decided to take a chance on the Staud Harlow Suede Shoulder Bag* instead. I wasn’t sure if it would be different enough from my Celine Ava Shoulder Bag, but now that I’ve had it for a few weeks, I can confidently say that both handbags offer something different, while still being classic pieces in my wardrobe. The Celine is a sturdier canvas structured bag and leans more into the dark brown/black color palette, while the Staud is more delicate and boho and is a lovely rich tan. Both handbags are versatile components of my Fall Capsule Wardrobe!
Whenever I’m considering a new handbag purchase, I love to read reviews from others - I thought I’d pay it forward today. I love this little suede handbag and I think it’s great value for money (priced at $325). I would highly recommend to others in the market for a suede bag this season. Although the tan version is sold out across most sites, you can pre-order it (and other colors such as blue* and green*) via the Staud website with expected shipment right before the holidays.
The Harlow bag came with a dustbag and protective stuffing. The suede is very slouchy, and although not buttery soft, it feels like quality material.
The front buckle has the “STAUD” logo engraved in it. You can see the tiny white stitching which has been used all along the bag.
The “STAUD” logo is also engraved onto the side buckles. There are 3 holes on each side of the strap - I currently have it hooked onto the middle hole.
One really fun detail on this bag is that the shoulder strap is wider on top and more narrow near the bottom. This makes it more comfortable to hold and carry over your shoulder. You can see how the bag slouches in this picture.
The inside of the strap is smooth leather. This is such a great detail as this side will see a lot more wear and tear when slung over your shoulder and suede would have gotten scuffed immediately.
The back of the bag has the “STAUD” logo stamped into it. In this picture, you can see a lighter horizontal mark due to how the bag was stored - this isn’t a scuff but just natural settling of the suede. It would come out if brushed.
The bag has a magnetic lock and is really easy to open. The underside of the flap is a beautiful dark brown suede - isn’t the color just lush? I love how this looks aesthetically and the darker leather will help hide scuffs that will naturally happen overtime from being exposed to the magnet hardware.
The inside of the bag is one big pocket, with one smaller zippered compartment. I love that this is a zippered pocket and not just a pocket square as this helps keep a few items secure. There is a brown leather tag with the “STAUD” logo stamped on it. The zipper hardware is lined with the same brown leather.
Do you have any more questions about this handbag that I can help answer? Additionally, let me know if you’d like me to do this type of review for any other items in my fall capsule wardrobe! Leave a comment below :)
See you next Sunday,

I have a few bags from Staud and love their design but often wish they had more space! I'm someone who needs to bring everything with me when I leave the house, otherwise I'd be buying this in a second!
This looks so good! I love my Staud vivi suede bag in a deep rich brown which I bought this season and would definitely recommend it too. So soft and slouchy x
