Hello and happy Sunday!
Last week, I wrote about my newest purchase and the latest addition to my wardrobe in over 4 months, the Coach Brooklyn Shoulder Bag 28. Click below to read that post if you haven’t already:
I had high hopes for this bag and unfortunately, it did not live up to them:
In pictures, this bag looked like a beautiful tan brown, but in person it looks like a khaki gray (see below). As I reflected when I decided to sell my Sezane Mini Milo Bag (and wrote about here), the shade of handbag is a big deal to me - I know I won’t wear a bag if the shade isn’t exactly what I want.
I went to a vintage store last weekend (shoutout Howdy’s Vintage) and I got to get my hands on a suede leather jacket. It was too big for me and I don’t need a suede jacket at the moment anyways, but let me tell you, the suede leather was luscious. It got me so excited to receive the Coach Brooklyn Bag, but unfortunately, the suede leather on this bag is a little rough and stiff. Although it’s possible that the leather would soften over time, it just wasn’t for me. I think the plain leather versions of this bag would be more pliable.
So, unfortunately, this bag will be going back. I still love the idea of suede though! Maybe I’ll save up and purchase the Savette Pochette later this winter?
See you next Sunday,

After much reflection, I’ve updated my approach to using affiliate links and accepting gifted items or sponsorships, which has been documented on my About Me page. This newsletter takes time and effort each week and since most of the content is free for all to read, this will allow me to earn some compensation in a way that is still aligned with my goal of encouraging sustainable fashion choices.
Although I did purchase the Coach Brooklyn Shoulder Bag 28 with my own money, since I am sending it back and do not recommend it to others, this post does not contain any affiliate links. Thank you for your support!
Wait, do we need to be friends in real life because I go to Howdy's Vintage pretty much on the daily. All my suede and leather jackets are from there! Agreed that the color on the Coach bag is not as shown on the site and I think returning was the right move.
THANK YOU for posting this. I was ready to pull the trigger on this bag as well, but for the same reasons that you were disappointed with it. I wanted that deep caramel color and a nice soft suede with lots of ease.
You saved me from having to buy and return.
