Suede for fall? Groundbreaking.
Featuring the first purchase I've made in 4 months - the Coach Brooklyn 28 bag!
Hello and happy Sunday!
I hope you’re enjoying the long holiday weekend. Although temperatures are still quite hot in Austin, we’ve finally got a few cooler “fall” days in the high 80s next week. I’m looking forward to it.
I’ve been seeing a lot of suede on my social media feeds. I know what you’re thinking - suede for fall?
I’m not too bothered though. Sometimes classics are a classic for a reason! I don’t have a ton of suede in my closet - Texas is too hot to get a lot of use out of suede jackets, boots, or skirts. But, handbags? Handbags are perfect because you don’t wear them, but they still add the “fall weather vibes” and can help you repurpose a summer outfit for the cooler season ahead. And there have been quite a few amazing suede handbag releases recently! Here are a few that caught my eye:
Savette Symmetry Pochette Suede Tote ($1,190): I love the silhouette of this bag; it would perfect as an evening clutch. If I was spending this much on a handbag at the moment though, I’d want it to be a plain leather piece that I could wear year-round.
Hunting Season Suede Tote ($995): The color of this leather is gorgeous. I like that it’s lined with smooth leather on the seams, which will provide some protection from scuffs. I don’t have a need for a tote bag at the moment as I don’t commute to work, but this would be a great option for anyone who does.
Khaite Olivia Medium Suede Tote ($1,900): I love the shape of this bag - it reminds me a lot of Bottega. This was a strong contender, but if I was going to spend this much on a handbag at the moment, I’d probably invest in another handbag on my wishlist from Celine, Loewe, or Dior.
Staud Harlow Shoulder Bag ($325): This shoulder handbag is really cute and I love the gold hardware. This was a strong contender for me since it’s such a great price point too. However, I felt that this would be a very similar shape to the Celine Ava Shoulder Bag I already own and I thought it would be better to add a different shape to my collection?
Well, if you clicked on this post, you already know which bag I added to my collection - the Coach Brooklyn Shoulder Bag 28! The silhouette of this bag reminded me of Row vibes and I thought that the color was a perfect fall brown that would look great paired with a lot of outfits I already own. I thought the 28 size was the perfect “medium sized” handbag and would be a good complement to the Strathberry Raffia Tote that I’ve gotten a ton of wear out of this spring and summer. It hasn’t arrived yet, but I’ll definitely share my thoughts with you when it does! Coach has been doing some great stuff recently!
