Cost per Fit: A Brown Checked Blazer!

I purchased a similar Alice & Olivia Brown Checked Blazer via Shopbop a few years ago on sale for $173.25. I live in a hot climate where most folks dress pretty casually and I also work from home. Because of this, I couldn’t justify shelling out hundreds on an expensive blazer from The Row or Toteme (although I still drool over them). This blazer caught my eye because it was composed of 100% wool (although not all Alice & Olivia blazers are), was a classic brown checkered style that I knew wouldn’t go out of fashion, and was under the sub-$200 mark. I love that it’s a more laid back version of its “classic black blazer” sister and can be dressed up or down as needed!
I’ve worn this blazer for the following occasions:
Fancier winter dinners - In our mild winters, this blazer looks really chic worn over the shoulders with a slim turtleneck sweater.
Virtual interviews - I feel weird wearing casual clothes to virtual interviews but it doesn’t quite feel right to break out a full black suit, like I did in school, either. This blazer is the perfect in-between as I can pop it on over a white t-shirt or blouse and feel professional, yet not overly serious.
Ways I’d like to wear this in the future:
Thrown over the shoulders with a slinky black silk dress - I don’t own one at the moment but I do own a black crop top and a black silk skirt, which would be a great way to try this formula out before rushing out to buy something new.
With a white crop top and baggy jeans - For those summer nights where it’s warm out but the AC is blasting inside 😂
